Historic homes

Much of Midway’s housing sits in its historic district, with homes dating back to the 1800s. Farms and country properties

Homes outside town often rely on private wells and septic systems. Drainage and foundations

Older homes often sit on crawlspaces or stone and block foundations. We inspect grading, surface drainage, and gutters and downspouts where they may affect the house, along with the foundation and any accessible basement or crawlspace. We report observed signs of active water penetration and of possible foundation movement, such as cracks and unlevel floors, so you know what to have evaluated further.

Radon

The EPA classifies Woodford County as Zone 1, its highest radon potential category, and 65% of buildings tested in Central Kentucky come in above the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L. Two houses on the same street can have very different levels, so the only way to know is to test. We recommend adding radon testing to your inspection.
