Start a Career as a Home Inspector (No Experience Required — We’ll Train You)

At Rosie Home Inspections, we’re not just hiring inspectors—we’re looking for the right people to train, support, and grow into great inspectors.

If you’re a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and enjoy helping people understand complex things, we can teach you the technical side. What matters most to us is your mindset, your reliability, and how you care for clients.

Who We’re Looking For

Right now, our focus is simple:

We’re looking for great communicators who want to build a long-term career as a home inspector.

You don’t need prior inspection experience. You don’t need a construction background. We’re happy to train from the ground up.

You might be a great fit if you are:

  • A clear and confident communicator
  • Observant and detail-oriented
  • Organized, dependable, and have reliable transportation (we pay mileage when applicable)
  • A self starter who is comfortable working alone
  • Comfortable asking questions and learning new things
  • Professional, respectful, and client-focused
  • Someone who enjoys problem-solving and continuous learning

If you’ve ever been the person others turn to for explanations, organization, or keeping things on track—you’ll likely do very well here.

What the Job is Really Like

We believe in being upfront—this is a hands-on, active job.

On any given day, you may be:

  • Walking roofs, evaluating systems, and documenting findings
  • Entering crawlspaces and attics (yes, sometimes tight spaces—but we train you on how to do this safely and confidently)
  • Working in hot attics in the summer and snow and ice in the winter
  • Spending time outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Moving through a variety of environments, from new construction to older homes

There may occasionally be spiders or snakes, and there will definitely be dirt and grime—but you’ll also build confidence quickly, and most people are surprised by how comfortable they become with the right training and support.

This is not about being the toughest person in the room—it’s about being capable, prepared, and professional.

You Do NOT Need…

A lot of great candidates talk themselves out of applying before they ever hit submit. Let’s clear a few things up:

You do not need:

  • A construction or contractor background
  • Prior home inspection experience
  • To know everything about houses (that’s what training is for)
  • To be “super handy” or mechanically inclined
  • To have done this type of work before
  • To feel 100% confident on day one

What you do need is a willingness to learn, the ability to communicate clearly, and a commitment to doing the job well.

If you’re thoughtful, detail-oriented, and good with people, you can absolutely succeed here.

What Helps People Succeed in This Role

  • Curiosity and a desire to understand how things work
  • Comfort asking questions and learning step-by-step
  • A calm, professional presence with clients
  • The ability to stay organized and focused
  • A positive attitude—even when the job gets a little messy

A Day in the Life

No two days are exactly the same, but here’s what a typical day might look like:

You start your morning reviewing your schedule and driving to your first inspection (there’s LOTS of driving involved in this job).

At the property, you’ll move systematically through the home—roof, exterior, structure, systems, interior—documenting what you see and taking photos along the way.

You might find yourself:

  • Navigating a tight crawlspace (yes, this is where the spiders live)
  • Sweating it out in an attic in the summer or bundling up in the winter
  • Noticing small details that others would miss
  • Reviewing your findings with home buyers and their agents in a way that they can understand, and helping them decide if follow-up evaluation is warranted by a trades contractor
  • Writing a photo-rich, detailed report of your findings
  • Drive to the next site for a 2nd inspection and start the process over!

Throughout the day, communication is key. Clients rely on you not just to observe—but to translate what you’re seeing into something they understand and can act on.

By the end of the day, you’ve helped someone make a more informed decision—and built real confidence in your skills.
