Air Quality/ Mold Testing
Molds are an essential part of the natural environment. Outdoors, they break down dead organic matter. But indoors, molds are potentially toxic, and their growth should be prevented.
There are many types of mold, and they reproduce by means of microscopic, airborne spores. Mold can start growing indoors and land on surfaces that are damp. Exposure to mold by inhaling or touching mold spores can cause allergic reactions and irritation to the lungs, eyes, skin, nose and throat.
Mold that gets established can gradually destroy the things it grows on, including home furnishings and structural components.
You can prevent damage to your home and furnishings, save money, and avoid health problems by controlling unwanted moisture intrusion and eliminating potential mold growth.
If you’d like Rosie Home Inspections to include a basic air sampling package to test for mold when we perform your general home inspection, we can offer this package for $389.
If you'd like us to perform this service alone, the cost is $429.
After collecting mold samples, we provide our client's with a professional lab analysis within 1-3 business days.
How Our Air Quality (Mold) Sampling & Visual Inspection Service Works
Our testing services includes three mold samples - one of these is the outdoor baseline.
Baseline Sample
We collect an air sample outside of the house to establish a baseline of the mold types/spore quantity that is natural to the environment.
Interior Air Sample(s)
We collect two air samples in the house. These samples are then compared to the exterior baseline sample in the lab.
Interior Surface Growth
We look for visible surface growth during the visual examination of the interior space. If growth is viewed, we recommend you follow the EPA's recommendations for treatment and/or removal (see guide above). If specifically advised by client, we can take a surface sample for an additional fee.
